Scott and I went to the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia for a wonderful weekend getaway. I enrolled in the Orvis Fly Fishing School for a introductory course and was properly outfitted in full garb - complete with an Orvis rod that I managed to not send downstream! Scott was kind enough to take the class with me so basically the instructor spent 20 mintues getting me casting and then spent the rest of the time talking Scott through all of these crazy fishing scenarios (you've got a tree behind you, and a bush on your left and the wind is cutting through in this direction and you spot your trout in that corner...) As I understand it, we were fishing for mountain trout. Scott managed to catch a couple trout, I caught mountain. We had a great time though - Scott was downright giddy to have his fly rod in hand and I loved the entire experience. The Homestead was a treat too - yes, Aunt Suzie, we did have the afternoon tea that they are so famous for! Thanks to MaMaw Sweetie for entertaining Grace and Andy while we were away - such a treat for both the kids and us!
