Land of the Fully Matriculated

Grace AND Andy had their first day of nursery school yesterday. Grace is in the five day pre-where-did-time-go-kindergarten and Andy is in the two day program. Andy is in the two day program. Andy is in the two day program! That means that, for the first time in four and one half years, I will have two mornings each week to contemplate something other than Elmo, the letter of the day, or who's turn it is to wear the Belle dress. Hallelujah. Amen. The choir is singing. But I am a little weepy. Just a little though: Grace and Andy both LOVED their teachers and the new fancy playground.

Grandpa Ern sent the kids (and parents!) a surprise back to school care package - complete with crayons and paints and an art book! At this point, when the brown truck pulls in our driveway, Grace says "what did that Grandpa Ern do this time?!" The kids are so lucky to have such a thoughtful grandfather. Never mind that this grandfather must have done this shopping in between two back to back hurricanes!

Sweetie, true to form, transversed the state so that she could see one grandchild off (Bayley) for her first day, and welcome another two home. She arrived just in time to be the rock star that she is to Grace and Andy. She spoiled them with great treats and took us all out to dinner to celebrate.

Grace was THRILLED that the bear on her hook name tag had the "very very same princess hairbow!"

First day treats from Sweetie: My Little Pony Amusement Park! She has wanted this all summer and we've been saving her pennies. She finally threw in the savings towel and called Sweetie and said, and I quote, "Sweetie, this is taking too much time. Do you have a lot of them dollars?"

And for Andy: his very own space shuttle. He was speechless. He loves the thing so much that he actually puts his favorite blanket over it at night.

First day dinner out at Brix. Belle and John Glenn: preschool scholars.
