my baby...

Both kids have been sick with bad colds so the tolerance level to hearing "not right now" has been greatly reduced (i.e. "no we can't do papier mache in the house" "whahhhhhhh!!!"). So yesterday, at around 3pm, Andy asked to sleep in a "big boy bed." Totally out of the blue and unprovoked. Yes, he is 2 1/2 plus. Yes, he still sleeps (or did sleep) in a crib. I've learned the hard way that these years pass entirely too quickly so I've been in no hurry to push my little baby boy along with these things. Baby boy is now attending preschool two days a week: we can only assume that he picked this concept of "big boy bed" up there. He also picked up a new best friend named Mattie, who for the record, is not listed on the classroom roster but that is another story (or another post). Anyway, request was heard for the big bed and Scott and I were dumb founded and without excuse (especially when the mattress set for said bed has been eating up 30% of our total closet space). Thus, the frame was erected and the "when he's ready" sheets were quickly washed and all just in time for the most undramatic big step a baby boy has ever made. He hopped in, his sister (Belle) tucked him in, we said yes to taking the Batman toy to bed, and yes to two books as well. I think the new bed suits him well: he slept in until a record 8am. I, of course, didn't sleep a wink - I was busy trying to figure out where my baby went!

(an hour after bedtime - clearly LOVING the new bed!)
