Uh oh.

It's a long story...I only wish I knew half of it. Young Andrew announced Sunday morning that he was "reawwwy feewing not good." He limped into our room and pointed to his foot. Said foot was roughly two times the size of his other foot. Off to the ED at UVA. ED resident was super nice to our Andy and agreed that we had something to be concerned about. Naturally, the doctor wanted to know how this happened. Now, we know Andy...in a given day, he has fallen off his bike 6 times, blasted off the swing set "wike John Glenn" 9 times, soared down the stairs in the laundry basket at least once, and climbed no less than a dozen trees. He is a boy and he is active and he loves to be outside - which I love because my greatest fear is raising an overweight video game playing cave dweller. So anyway, we tried to answer the doctor's questions with possible foot-injuring scenarios. It didn't take long to figure out that Andy's foot was being assessed along with our fitness as parents. I get it - I really do - but it is an awful feeling. Fortunately, the attending physician stopped in our room, recognized Scott and took over. And more fortunately, Andy's little leg doesn't appear to be broken. There is some concern over a potential growth plate fracture but he is already cruising around in his little temporary cast and that is a good sign...but then again, this IS Andy and he doesn't do "slow" well.
